Make online child safety training a part of your volunteer screening process.  When staff members and volunteers have an awareness of the basic characteristics of a sexual abuser, the process by which an abuser picks and prepares a child for abuse, and indicators of child sexual abuse, they are better equipped to recognize and prevent abuse in ministry programs.

Introduction Introduction to Child Safety Training and the topic of sexual abuse.  This acts primarily as an attention grabber.  As well, it attempts to replace a few common misconceptions with facts.
Section 1 Definition of Child Sexual Abuse -  Section covers what constitutes as sexual abuse.
Section 2 Impact of Sexual Abuse – Section covers the effect of sexual abuse on victims, families and culture.
Section 3 Recognizing Child Molesters, Patterns of Behavior, and the Grooming Process – Section covers the process most abusers use to gain access, trust and time alone with victims.
Section 4 Recognizing the Warning Signs of Sexual Abuse – Section covers things to watch out for ministries in order to prevent abuse.
Section 5 Reporting and Taking Reports of Abuse – Section covers what constitutes as a reportable offense and how to report abuse to authorities and supervisors.
Section 6 Principles to Reduce the Risk of Sexual Abuse – Section covers things ministries should be doing in order to create a culture that is intolerant of abuse and grooming behavior that might lead to abuse.
Quiz/Certificate
The total time on all sections is a little less than 55 minutes and the quiz will take another 5 or so depending on reading/connection speed.  Certificate of Completion, quiz score and date completed will be stored along with the applicants background report.
